Joe C. Fisher, 95, passed away on August 20, 2026, surrounded by family in the ICU at Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1931, on Missionary Ridge to Miller and Mabel Fisher. During his time there he attended Missionary Ridge Elementary School, Brainerd Junior High and Chattanooga High School. Following high school, he enlisted in The United States Air Force where he served four years in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. After completing his military service, he attended The University of Chattanooga where he earned his B.A. in psychology and was also in their first graduating M.B.A. class. Joe completed his post-graduate work at The School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University.

Upon graduation, he embarked on his successful banking career beginning with the Hamilton National Bank of Chattanooga, the Second National Bank of Lexington and the First American Bank of Knoxville where he served as vice-president. While living in Knoxville, Joseph was very active on several boards including the Knoxville Civic Opera. He also served on the Board of Governors for the American Institute of Banking.

Upon retiring, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, cooking, reading, being outdoors, working on his cars, and road trips along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Joe was proceeded in death by his parents Joe M. Fisher and Mabel P. Fisher. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years Lynda K. W. Fisher, his children Robin Fisher, Lindsey Fisher and Andrew Fisher (Dr. Christy Bonner) and his grandchildren, Madison Folks (Dr. Iain Carmichael), Sawyer Folks, Isabelle Fisher & Miles Fisher.

The family wishes to thank all of those involved in his care in past years, including Dr. Wendt, Dr. Nieckula, Dr. Negus and the attentive staff at Memorial’s coumadin clinic. The ER & ICU staff at Memorial lovingly cared for him at the end of his life, and he is now resting in the arms of God. Joe’s faith was important to him throughout his life, and he is a former member of Brainerd United Methodist Church.

A private graveside service will occur at The Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors to follow.
