Violet Marie (Bench) Rowell, age 101, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born to Charles and Eleanor (Bertine) Bench on September 17, 1924, in Barton, Ohio.

Violet was raised on a farm outside Alliance, Ohio, where she developed a lifelong connection to her family and the community in which she grew up. She graduated from Alliance High School and worked for the American Red Cross. In 1945, Violet married Milo Rowell and together they began a new chapter of life in St. Johns, Michigan.

Throughout much of her working life, Violet served as a senior office manager, bringing dedication and professionalism to her career. Outside of work, she found enjoyment in reading, dancing, playing cards, and participating in community theater productions. She especially treasured her enduring ties with her family of origin in Ohio, maintaining those relationships throughout her life.

Violet was preceded in death by her sister Rosalie; her father and mother; husband Milo; and brothers Charles and Virgil. She is survived by her brother Jerom (Joan); her son, Rex (Gaye); her grandchildren Teresa (Eric), David (Lori), Emma, and great-grandchild Julia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for family members will be held in Ohio near the family farm where her life began, honoring her lifelong connection to her roots.
