Patricia Mae Avisto

Patricia Mae Avisto, age 89, passed away peacefully on Lookout Mountain, GA, on Monday, August 3,

2026.

Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Pat lived a life marked by devotion to her family, quiet strength, deep

faith, and enduring love for those closest to her. She was an avid reader who also held a deep love of

gardening, nature, rescue dogs and art.

Pat enjoyed an early career as a fashion model. After marrying her husband, Uno, she began a life as a

dedicated wife and mother, creating a loving home for her family.

Her love of art led her to open two successful art galleries—one in Connecticut under the name Golden

Goose Gallery and later, one in downtown Chattanooga, named Austin Palmer Gallery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Swen and Mabel Sorensen and by her beloved husband, Uno

Avisto.

Pat is survived by her brother, Bob Sorenson (Marla); two children, Peter Avisto (Courtney) and Teri

Luthringer (Alex) and by her five grandchildren, Harrison Avisto (Catherine), Palmer Avisto (Kelly), Braden

Lewis, Taylor Luthringer, and Sydney Luthringer.

She will be remembered with love and gratitude by her family and friends, who will cherish the

memories they shared with her and the legacy of care and kindness she leaves behind.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Thrive at Brow Wood for their love, care, and kindness,

as well as the nurses at Tapestry Hospice for their compassion.

Family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 2:00, with services to follow at Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church

on Signal Mountain on August 31, with The Reverend Kat Chappell presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite animal shelter.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cremation Center of Chattanooga, 1345 Hickory Valley Road, Suite B,
