Hugh Don Gilbreath of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. He was 84 years old. Don was born January 22, 1942 in Fort Payne, Alabama. He was proud to have served his country as a Marine. After his military service, he pursued a career in insurance sales where he served as a past president of the Tennessee Association of Life Underwriters and was named Man of the Year. Don was very involved with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletics and served on the Chancellor's Round Table and basketball coach selection committee. He loved sports, especially golf, and fishing. In his retirement years, he became an avid gardener. Don will be greatly missed. Semper Fidelis.



He was preceded in death by his parents, George Cecil and Ruby Jo Gilbreath; his son Matthew Gilbreath; and his brother, Bruce Gilbreath.

Don leaves behind many loved ones including his daughter, Stephanie Culberson, daughter in law Monica Gilbreath, sister-in-law Robin Gilbreath, nieces Rachel Dunn and Rebecca Levan and granddaughters Riley and Makenna Gilbreath.
