Blane Edward (Ed) Smith, Sr., 80 Soddy-Daisy, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

He was born in Bledsoe County, TN. Ed was a welder at Astec for 30 years. He loved the outdoors, cutting trees, wood working and helping others. Ed was a member of Rechoboth Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blaine and Katie Smith; brothers, Marvin, Clinton and Billy Smith, sisters, Anna Ruth Skiles and Rosie Swanner.

Survivors include his loving wife, Anita Smith; children, Blane Edward (Marcie) Smith, Jr. and Amy James; grandchildren, Katie (Hunter) Cox, Jacob Welch, Hope Hembree, Jacklynn Peterson, Nicholas James and Levi James; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Carlos, Ronnie (Leslie) and James Smith; sister, Susie Keith and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Rechoboth Baptist Church, 12622 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
